What is Invisalign® First?

Invisalign® First is an Invisalign® treatment designed specifically for children ages 7-10. It is the smile solution Dr. Solomon usually recommends for young children, as well as children with sensory issues and special needs.

Invisalign® First is a type of Phase I orthodontic treatment that guides the growth of small smiles. It aligns the teeth while gradually expanding the dental arches and making room for existing and developing teeth.

Invisalign® First aligners are smooth and comfortable – and conveniently removable. This means your child won’t have to adjust their diet or routine during treatment – making Invisalign® First a gentle introduction to orthodontics.

How does Invisalign^® First treatment work?

At your child’s free consultation, we will use our iTero 3D scanner to obtain a virtual model of their smile. Then, Dr. Solomon will design a custom treatment plan and series of aligners to guide your child’s smile into proper alignment.

Your child’s prescription will be sent to an Invisalign® lab so the custom aligners can be created. We will let you know when the aligners are ready to be picked up at our office. You can visit us occasionally for check-up appointments, or check in virtually through the Dental Monitoring app.

Why start early orthodontic treatment?

Phase One treatment with Invisalign® First is used to:

• Correct and guide the growth of your child’s jaw
• Create more space for crowded teeth
• Reduce the need for permanent tooth extractions during Phase Two treatment
• Correct thumb sucking
• Improve minor speech problems

After Phase One treatment, your child may still need a second, shorter Phase Two treatment in their teenage years to perfect the positions of their permanent teeth.
